The reserve itself
Bukit Timah Nature Reserve protects one of the last significant stands of primary rainforest in Singapore, and contains Bukit Timah Hill, the highest natural point on the island. It adjoins the Dairy Farm area directly.
Dairy Farm Nature Park
Opened in 2009 on the site of the working dairy farm that gave the area its name, Dairy Farm Nature Park serves as a green buffer to the reserve. Within it sits the Singapore Quarry, a former granite quarry whose worked faces now rise above still water and attract birdlife.
The Wallace Trail, named for the naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace who collected specimens in these forests in the 1850s, runs through the park and past the Wallace Education Centre.
Chestnut Nature Park
Chestnut Nature Park is the largest nature park in Singapore and carries the island's only dedicated mountain-biking trail network alongside its walking routes. Chestnut Close Park sits closer still to Dairy Farm Walk.
The Rail Corridor
The former KTM railway alignment now runs as a continuous green corridor from Woodlands to Tanjong Pagar, passing through the Bukit Timah stretch with a lookout deck near the truss bridge. It links the parks in the area into one route.
What it means day to day
For a household, the practical effect is that outdoor time does not require a drive. Trail access, park connectors and the corridor are all within walking distance of the Dairy Farm enclave.
