Where Is Dairy Farm Walk, and What Is District 23 Like?

HomeWhere Is Dairy Farm Walk, and What Is District 23 Like?

Dairy Farm Walk sits in the Bukit Panjang planning area of District 23, between the Hillview residential belt and Singapore's central nature reserves. Here is the area in full.

The address in context

Dairy Farm Walk is a residential street in the Dairy Farm subzone of the Bukit Panjang planning area, within District 23 in Singapore's west. District 23 is a large district covering Bukit Panjang, Choa Chu Kang, Hillview and Dairy Farm, and the character varies considerably across it.

The Dairy Farm pocket is the quietest part. It is bounded on one side by the central nature reserves and on the other by the Hillview residential belt, which gives it forest frontage and a full set of amenities at the same time.

How the enclave developed

The area takes its name from a working dairy farm that operated here from the 1930s. The land it occupied is now Dairy Farm Nature Park, opened in 2009, which contains the Singapore Quarry and the Wallace Trail.

Private housing arrived progressively. Several condominium projects have completed along Dairy Farm Walk, Dairy Farm Lane and Dairy Farm Heights over the past decade, alongside older developments on Dairy Farm Road, so the enclave now reads as a settled neighbourhood rather than a construction zone.

Getting around

Hillview station (DT3) on the Downtown Line serves the area, with Hume station (DT4) opening one stop further along in February 2025. From Hillview the line runs to Botanic Gardens, Newton, Bugis and Bayfront without a change.

By road the Bukit Timah Expressway and Upper Bukit Timah Road are both close, linking to the Pan Island Expressway and the northern corridor. Hillview Connect, opened in April 2025, added a 250 m link beneath the Rail Corridor between Hillview Avenue, Upper Bukit Timah Road and Dairy Farm Road.

Daily life in the area

Three malls serve the enclave and its surroundings. Dairy Farm Mall covers everyday needs within the neighbourhood, HillV2 carries a more lifestyle-led mix, and The Rail Mall is a low-rise strip of restaurants and neighbourhood businesses along the former railway alignment.

Bukit Panjang Hawker Centre, Bukit Panjang Community Club and the wider town centre sit a short distance north, and the schools in the area span childcare through to tertiary.

Who the area suits

The Dairy Farm enclave tends to attract households who want space and greenery without giving up rail access, and families drawn by the school cluster. The proximity of German European School Singapore has also shaped a steady expatriate presence.
